Position: Development Manager
 
Classification: This is a full time salaried exempt position, Monday – Friday, with evening and weekend hours as required to support events at The Works.
 
Salary Range: $50,000 – $58,000
 
Organizational Structure: Reports to the Executive Director. Works closely with the executive and senior leadership teams, The Works Advisory Council, and Special Events Committees.
 
Position Summary: The Development Manager will oversee a portfolio of existing donors and identify opportunities for new gifts and prospective partners to grow the base for annual fundraising and project-specific efforts. This position will directly cultivate and maintain relationships with individual donors, corporations, foundations, as well as collaborate with leadership on major gifts and grant support.
 
This is an important role within the organization to support the development and implementation of The Works comprehensive annual fundraising program. Our strategic priorities focus on reinvigorating our current donor base while attracting the next generation of donor support to ensure the future of The Works.
 
Essential Duties:

  • Build and maintain partnerships and effective relationships with individuals, cultural and academic institutions, community organizations, donors, board members, and corporations to help garner support and resources for programs and to advance The Works mission.
  • Oversee development operations, including accurate and timely database management, gift processing, and donor correspondence for all gifts and campaigns.
  • In collaboration with Executive Leadership, develop and implement The Work’s comprehensive fundraising plan and activities. This includes setting and monitoring annual fund goals and progress, supporting donor events, building a planned giving program, and capital campaigns as needed to support the institution.
  • Work collaboratively with Works staff on institutional initiatives including program development, branding, audience development, income generation and budgets, exhibition planning, and visitor and member experiences.
 
Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience. Experience in non-profit educational or cultural organizations is desired.
  • Proven skill at cultivating and sustaining authentic relationships with donors, partners, and other key constituents.
  • Proven success in fundraising, meeting and increasing funding goals, and experience in writing successful grant proposals.
  • A demonstrated track record of successful fundraising from individuals, foundations, and corporations in the Central Ohio area is preferred.

  • Excellent organization and analytical skills; highly resourceful and flexible with a strong ability to prioritize workflow to meet deadlines.
  • Must be proficient with Google applications, Microsoft Office Suite, video conferencing and familiar with donor management software. Comfortable with exploring and learning new technologies.
