We are currently looking to fill the position of Engineering Assistant at our Hebron, OH Service Center. This administrative position is directed by the Manager of Engineering. It coordinates various engineering functions and provides overall administrative support to the department. An individual in this position must maintain a high level of organization and provide superior member service. It works closely with other parties to ensure workflow processes are executed smoothly and timely to meet members’ needs and expectations.
Nature and Scope of Position (Essential Duties and Responsibilities):
- Support and incorporate the Cooperative’s Mission, Vision, and Values in personal and professional behavior and decisions.
- Comply with Cooperative policies, procedures, goals, and objectives and meet attendance and punctuality guidelines.
- Understand, observe, and enforce cooperative safety and security procedures and report potentially unsafe conditions to the department supervisor and/or safety department personnel.
- Thoroughly understands the processes involved in establishing, upgrading, or relocating utility service with the cooperative. This position serves as the liaison between engineering and operations and advocates for the members to ensure their expectations are met throughout the process.
- Responsible for all aspects of the new, relocated, and upgraded service process and provides status updates to members and engineering/operations staff. Maintain a high level of accuracy and organization throughout the entire workflow process. Enter new account information into the appropriate Customer Information System (CIS) database.
- Provide general administrative support to the engineering staff and other departments, as requested by the manager.
- Track taps, new meter installations, integrity management, OQ, and other data to provide monthly and yearly reports.
- Request, collect, and file (paper and/or electronic) documents such as easements, permits, inspections, applications, DIMP material forms, OQ documentation, etc.
- Compiles and coordinates data requests for PUCO audits and various projects within the department.
- Treat others with professionalism and the highest level of exceptional customer service. Go above and beyond to assist and ensure member-consumers are kept abreast of the status of their service requests, including providing periodic updates when things change.
- Perform other related work and other duties as may be assigned.

- Experience and Education: Associate degree supplemented by solid project management or coordination experience or an equivalent combination of experience, education, and/or training. Working knowledge of construction practices and procedures. Previous experience working with the public and understanding the importance of quality customer service. Utility experience preferred. Must demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and the cooperative’s customer information system.
- Certificates, Licenses, and Training: Must possess a valid driver’s license and can attend meetings and/or training seminars when requested, including classes and/or training that may involve overnight stays. Has the functional and technical knowledge and skills to do the job at a high level of accomplishment.
- Language and Interpersonal Skills: Must possess excellent communication skills and always treat others in a courteous and professional manner. Ability to present written and oral reports to management when requested. Is a good listener and actively engages in conversations to understand others’ messages and intent clearly. Easy to approach and talk to and spends the extra effort to put others at ease.
- Other Skills and Abilities: Highly organized and performs well under stress. Displays high standards of ethical conduct and is widely trusted and viewed as a direct and truthful person. Maintains sensitive information with a high level of confidentiality. Effectively solves problems and has a realistic vision of the result. Can easily handle multiple tasks and maintain organization in the work area and workflow process. Requires minimal supervision.
