Cargo Clerk (Part-Time)
Downtown Newark
Under the general supervision of the Circulation Supervisor, the Cargo Clerk works in the Circulation Services workroom of the Downtown Newark location to ensure efficient processing and distribution of library materials between SEO Libraries.
This is a part-time position; 25 hours per week. OPERS Retirement. A job offer will be conditional upon successful completion of a background check and meeting any other preconditions of employment. The successful candidate will be scheduled to work Monday-Friday at the Downtown Newark location.

Minimum Qualifications and Principal Duties
?X High School diploma or equivalent required.
?X One year related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.
?X Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle to provide own transportation when participating in off-site Library business and activities.

Pay Rate
The pay for this position starts at $10.50/hour. This position is not eligible for the library’s fringe benefit package. Holiday Pay Eligible.

Job Summary: The Cargo Clerk works in the Circulation Services workroom of the Main Library to ensure efficient processing and distribution of library materials between SEO Libraries.

Mission: To serve our community of lifelong learners. The Cargo Clerk supports that mission by ensuring that they are providing the best customer service at all times by processing materials as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Personal & Professional Attributes: All Licking County Library employees are expected to exercise sensitivity when working with others, display common sense and good judgment, actively promote the Library to the public, uphold the highest level of confidentiality, honesty and integrity, and represent the Library in a positive and professional manner at all times.
Core Technology Competencies: All Licking County Library employees must have a demonstrated working knowledge of computer operations, standard office equipment (copiers, faxes, etc.) and must be able to perform simple searches on the Library’s online catalog. In addition, all employees must be able to prepare basic documents using a word processing program and have the ability to comprehend and explain to others all Library services including those relating to e-media and e-media devices.

General Requirements: Along with the commitment and desire to provide excellent service to library customers, all Licking County Library employees must have the ability to maintain predictable and regular attendance, work a flexible schedule including daytime, evening and weekend hours, communicate, comprehend and follow Library policy and procedure and develop and maintain positive working relationships with all internal and external customers. All employees must be able to understand library wide operations, satisfactorily perform all of the responsibilities associated with a specific job title and meet the physical requirements of that same job title. All employees must have the ability to alphabetize and perform basic math operations. In addition, all employees must have the ability to work according to the priorities as established by Library Administration and/or the Library Board of Trustees and to adapt to change as necessary.

Essential Duties:
?X Perform all duties associated with Cargo Services such as but not limited to: sorting, packing, tagging, loading and unloading, checking items in from cargo bins and library book drop, lifting crates, typing, filing, mailing, copying, replenishing supplies, select materials for relocation, repairing, etc.)
?X Perform clerical duties such as type, file, answer telephone, mail items, repair minor flaws in materials, replenish supplies and forms, replace cash register tape, make photocopies, and shelve.
?X Initiate Inter-library loan requests by verifying materials not in library consortium and placing requests.
?X Perform all duties associated with the circulation of library materials (checking in/out, issuing refunds, issuing cards, distributing and collecting forms, entering information, resolving problems, accepting payments and depositing money, mending, withdrawing materials, sorting, packing, tagging, weeding, loading and unloading, shelf reading, typing, filing, mailing, copying, replenishing supplies, select materials for relocation, repairing, etc.)
?X Prepare library for opening and closing by turning on/off lights and equipment, locking and unlocking library doors, running computer and cash register reports and lists, and counting, verifying, and securing money in cash register or safe.
?X Provide exemplary customer service by answering directional and reference questions, locating materials, processing hold requests, monitoring behavior of library users, and ensuring that the library is neat and orderly.
?X Participate in training new hires that are going through the Onboarding Program.
?X Fill photocopier and other equipment with paper and toner, clear paper jams, and notify Circulation Supervisor of more in-depth copier problems.
?X All other duties as needed or as assigned.

Additional Duties:
?X May attend library continuing education activities and/or represent Library at conferences and area events.
?X May represent the library at community outreach events such as parades, festivals, etc.
?X May do hold requests lists, maintenance reports, etc.
